Sometimes it doesn’t matter how much we do to defend ourselves. The stinking cold has caught us this week. My husband has had a whole week of 345am wake ups and I can’t seem to go to sleep after his alarm goes off. Super frustrating! In addition to avoiding sugar, grains and dairy, I’m taking high doses of vitamin D3, Cod Liver Oil, vitamin C and multivitamins. This is my go to when I get a cold or feel one coming on. I made this delicious soup today to get some bone broth and veggies in. I pretty much just looked in the fridge and put all the veggies that sounded good into the pot.
1 Head of cabbage
1 bunch of kale
10 large carrots
1 yellow onion
6 stalks of celery
3 cloves garlic
2 red bell peppers
2 cans of stewed tomatoes
64 ounces of chicken broth + 8 cups of water
1 T of sea salt
1 T of pepper
1 tsp cayenne
1 T dried cilantro
1 tsp turmeric
You can choose other veggies or other spices that you like together. You will need a very large pot.
1. Chop all the veggies and place them in the pot.
2. Pour in all the broth, water and tomatoes. Add the spices, salt and pepper and begin boiling.
3. Boil for 30-45 minutes until veggies are soft and simmer until your liking.
4. Enjoy and freeze a bunch for a rainy day.
